Independent and Sustainable.
Our Production Process and Philosophy
When you order from Two Bloom Designs, you can be proud of supporting small business, independent creatives, and sustainable industry practices.
In a day and age where our impact is becoming more and more apparent, thoughtful and sustainable production is kind of a big deal.
Print on Demand (PoD) Ordering
Two Bloom Designs is a Print on Demand (PoD) storefront, which means every product we offer is printed, produced, and shipped specifically for the customer who ordered it. This lets us avoid overproduction and means there isn’t a pallet of mugs with puns only we found funny sitting in a warehouse getting ready to end up tossed in a landfill all Brave Little Toaster style.
Responsible production is one of the biggest advantages Two Bloom Designs offers to customers who recognize the importance of thoughtful and sustainable industry practices. Yes, our orders require a few more days to allow for production, but the result is such a significant reduction in waste across the entire industry framework. We think that’s kind of a big deal.
With 92 million tons of textile going to waste in the fashion industry each year, a business model like this is a game-changer.
Printing mistakes or damage are the main contributors to waste in a PoD environment, and, even then, our production team has taken additional steps to mitigate their footprint here as well. We’re proud to work with a production company that donates misprinted items to charity organizations and damaged apparel to animal shelters who can use them to help care for the animals and maintain the shelter facilities.
“Direct to Garment” (DTG) Printing
Most of our clothing designs are produced using a technique called “Direct to Garment” (DTG) printing. DTG printing is more sustainable than older apparel printing methods, such as screen printing. This older technique uses a lot of water and plastisol inks that don’t biodegrade. Plus, the manual work involved in screen printing tends to make it economical only when ordering in bulk — which can again contribute to overproduction of fashion materials. DTG in conjunction with PoD ordering means items are printed only when there’s already a customer for them.
Responsible Source Products
The products we print on and where we source them also matter, and we try our best to offer products that reflect our own commerce philosophy. As an example, our line of Premium Tees are Bella + Canvas. Bella + Canvas uses solar energy, limits water use, and recycles waste by-products to make sure their products can sport the eco-friendly tag.
Responsible and sustainable day-to-day practices are an incredibly important part of what we are trying to do, both as individuals and as creative and independent producers. Thank you for helping support our ideas and goals.
